Robert O’Rorke studied at the Royal College of Art. After a stint of teaching he trained as a picture restorer to supplement his income, but continued to paint and exhibit. He has now retired from restoration to concentrate on painting full time. He has had several one man shows and exhibited widely in mixed exhibitions both here and abroad.

These include the International Art Fair, Los Angeles; International Art Fair, Salzburg; London Art Fair, Islington; Royal Academy, London; Whitechapel Art Gallery; Laing Art Exhibition; Brighton Art Gallery; Marble Hill House; Aldeburgh festival; and Discerning Eye.

Commissions have included two large oils of Rufford Abbey for Nottingham Council and his work is in other public collections including Hammersmith Hospital, Lindblad Cruises and Paris Blues restaurants. He has also been artist-in-residence at Garsington Opera.

Additional images can be viewed at Bridgeman images and Saatchi art (surname spelt without an apostrophe).

His work is figurative, and his subject matter is mainly landscape, still life and the occasional portrait with an abiding interest in the quality of light and the creation of the illusion of space.

His most recent exhibition was at the Piers Feetham Gallery and he will be exhibiting again at the Wylye Valley Art Trail in May.

He divides his time between London and Fonthill Gifford.
